Perhaps this was a result of the manufacturing process, seems most likely and most convenient for flattening the back...

 

Just occasionally it all just comes into perspective.

I remember that we are just a small animal with an over inflated sense of proportion flying through the universe and really NOTHING means anything beyond our little minds sense of what we feel it should mean. It changes day to day year to year, culture to culture, really it is all meaningless. If I start thinking about the vast majority of the population who are convinced in the existence of some super natural, mumbo jumbo, mighty being, old book told us so, faith is the answer system then I do really get scared. So I try not to think about that much anymore. Did that, got the T shirt. Some people are scared by the thought that nothing has any meaning, worried to be sucked into nihilistic philosophy, but the realisation gives me strength. No meaning is the meaning. Life is the purpose of life. Sword inside the blade. Gestaltism.

And then I feel better and get back to the children.

Time to finish some planes with my stamp today.

It was obvious to start with my Box Mitre Plane.

 

 

Below is one of my stamping jigs, it just slips over a Sash Clamp (Cramp?!)

I gave my son the nicest Spokeshave we got recently.

We tuned it up together - I got him sharpening it up on a diamond stone.

I left him with it and came back and he had made his first pile of shavings with his own spokeshave. Michael Huntley contacted me recently as a friend of his has started up an initiative to get schools making spokeshaves.

I think and hope he contacted the right person.

My students at school will be making planes and spokeshaves this year...

I have been away from here for awhile.

Been busy busy busy.

House and workshop are up for sale - strange feeling selling my workshop.

Time to move - hectic times are here for my family.

I will probably have a vacation from the blog when it all kicks off...

 

It was my birthday recently.

My Japanese order is still in Japan.

My American order arrived, at last I have all of Krenov's published works!

Took a while as I wanted the prices to come down a bit.

But like all collectors, patience pays off when you are skint.
